    A functional shade umbrella with a simple, high-quality design

    This umbrella is made from 100% cotton fabric woven with thin threads in a slightly coarse plain weave, and is waterproofed and laminated with polyurethane to provide a light blocking rate of over 99.99%, UV protection rate of over 99.9%, and heat insulation index of over 50%. It can be used in both sunny and rainy weather. The cotton fabric on the outside is very smooth and comfortable to the touch, and is thin, lightweight, yet has an elegant feel. 100% cotton lawn, which is often used for spring and summer shirts and blouses, is cool to the touch and makes a great parasol. Furthermore, this umbrella has a 2-way design that allows you to hold it with the ribs extended, so it can also be used as a long umbrella, making it highly functional.

    Sun and rain umbrella ｜ A waterproof parasol for both rain and shine

    The fabric is treated to cut UV rays (protect against ultraviolet rays) as well as to be water-repellent and water-resistant. This is a rain and sun umbrella that can be used primarily as a parasol but can also be used as an umbrella in the rain. (If used for a long time in heavy rain, rainwater may seep through the umbrella fabric.)

    By laminating the underside of the umbrella fabric with polyurethane material, we have achieved a UV protection rate of over 99.9% and a shading rate of over 99.99%.
    The Japan Umbrella Promotion Association (JUPA) defines an umbrella that uses fabric with a light blocking rate of 99.99% or more as a "first-class light blocking umbrella," so this umbrella is a first-class light blocking umbrella. (Since labels such as "complete light blocking" and "100% light blocking" are unique names used by each store, we will follow the JUPA standards and label this umbrella as first-class light blocking.)

    Because the laminate is black, it easily absorbs reflected UV rays, making it ideal for blocking out the sun on hot days.
    The outer surface is made from natural materials, so it looks like a parasol and provides a cool feeling when used.
    Additionally, the black laminate color absorbs the light reflected from the ground, protecting the skin from light coming from above and below.

    Heat shielding rate of over 50% makes it ideal for extreme heat

    The heat shielding effect of this product was tested at the Kaken Testing Center (formerly the Japan Chemical Textile Inspection Association) using the "Heat ray shielding property measurement method," and the product was found to have a heat shielding rate of over 50%.
    *The Japan Western Umbrella Promotion Council has determined that umbrellas have a heat-blocking effect if their test results show a heat-blocking rate of 35% or more.

    • Rokuro winding and dowel winding

      The part that moves up and down when opening and closing the umbrella is called the "rokuro" and the joint part of the bone is called the "dabo."
      The process of protecting each of these parts with the umbrella fabric is called "rokuromaki" and "dabomaki," and each part is carefully attached and covered to protect your hands when opening the umbrella and to prevent damage to the ribs, while also creating a traditional beauty and sense of luxury.
      This is an old-fashioned technique that is time-consuming and therefore not seen much these days, but all of Komiya Shoten's long umbrellas are equipped with it.

    • Ribs and center pole

      The ribs are made of steel (iron that has been heat-treated). Steel is heavy compared to other materials, but it is a very strong material. Therefore, it is resistant to wind and has the strength to support the umbrella, so it goes well with fabric and can fully express the beauty of the umbrella's tension.
      It uses a natural center pole made of maple wood, which is highly durable.
