Autumn is deepening day by day, making it the perfect season for a walk.
Today, I would like to talk about an event taking place in Chuo Ward, where Komiya Shoten's headquarters and shop are located.
Chuo Ward is located almost in the center of Tokyo's 23 wards and has flourished as a center of Japanese culture, commerce, and information since the Edo period.
The ward is an intersection of old and new cultures, with not only Nihonbashi, the starting point of the Edo Five Highways, and Ginza, the center of tourism and commerce, but also Tsukiji, Tsukishima, and Ningyocho, among many other long-established stores that have long been loved by locals.
Did you know that the Chuo Ward Tourism Association offers a fun "Walking Tour" where you can walk around the ward with a guide?

This time, Komiya Shoten was selected as a stop on the WakuWaku Tour for the first time, and the other day we had our first tour customers.
On the day of the tour, the tour focused on a tour of the workshop where Komiya Shoten's umbrellas are made, and introduced the history of Komiya Shoten and the process of umbrella making.
As the workshop is not normally open to customers, everyone on the tour was very interested in how umbrellas are made.
Our company was the last tour of the day, so many customers came to the shop after the tour to look at the umbrellas. They were able to spend a fun time looking at the umbrella wooden molds on display in the shop, the sewing machines used in umbrella production, and umbrellas used during the Meiji period.
This tour allows you to learn more about Chuo Ward while visiting various other places in the ward in addition to our company, and we are still accepting applications for the second half of 2022.
This is a very popular tour, so if you're interested, please apply early.

In addition, Komiya Shoten will be holding its first umbrella workshop in six months from 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 13th.
This tour will be a valuable opportunity to learn about the umbrella-making process at Komiya Shoten through a hands-on experience, something that could not be fully conveyed in the short time available.

This time, you can also try your hand at making the men's "Aoi" for the first time.
I would like to take this opportunity to try making an umbrella!
I'm interested in becoming an umbrella maker!
If you are one of those people, please feel free to join us.
(Applications will close as soon as capacity is reached)
We look forward to your applications and participation.
