Marukyu Shoten x Komiya Shoten
We have created a parasol in collaboration with Marukyu Shoten, a long-established company that has been producing products using the traditional dyeing technique called "Chūsen" since the Meiji period.
Marukyu Shoten was founded in 1899 in Horidome-cho, Nihonbashi.
This wholesaler still stocks yukata and tenugui made with the traditional Chusen dyeing technique.
"Tokyo Honsen Chusen" has been selected as a national traditional craft in 2023.
Marukyu Shoten has been manufacturing products in the same Nihonbashi area for a long time.
Among the many wonderful products available, we chose a "reproduction tenugui" hand towel this time, and our craftsmen have made it into a parasol.
"Reproduction Tenugui" using Ise Katagami
A "reproduction tenugui" is a new tenugui item that has been reproduced using the traditional Ise stencil paper used in yukata and dyed with the dyeing process.
A special parasol with the same texture
This parasol has no processing and allows you to experience the texture of Marukyu Shoten's carefully dyed tenugui towels.
We've also used bamboo for the parts, making this a stylish parasol that can also be used as a fashion accessory.
