Hello.
I'm Tagawa, a staff member.
The weather is unstable, with hot and cool weather alternating every day, but it's getting dark earlier in the evenings, and we can gradually feel autumn approaching.
A breathable parasol made of linen is recommended for the autumn sunshine.
We have several types of linen parasols available, but today we would like to introduce one of them, "Aurora," in detail.
The cutely colored "Aurora" design is made from linen fabric dyed by Kinunoie in Yorii, Saitama Prefecture.
The cloth is dyed using the "single-bath multi-color dyeing" technique, which creates beautiful gradations of different colors, and since each piece is dyed by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike.
It is also called aurora dyeing because the dyed product looks like the aurora.
Unlike regular multi-color dyeing, in which each color is dyed in several separate baths, one-bath multi-color dyeing involves dyeing all colors at once.
A dyed pattern is drawn on the washed and dried cloth, and then the cloth is tied according to the dyed pattern.
The cloth is then covered with vinyl and the mixed dye is poured in.
The temperature is raised to 80 degrees while the dye is rubbed in, then the fabric is washed with water and dried to complete the process.
This one-bath multi-color dyeing technique was developed by the Chichibu Textile Factory Testing Station.
In 1989, Mr. Masaharu Yoshida, the previous president of Kinunoie, received the technique, and even today he continues to produce products using one-bath multi-color dyeing techniques that incorporate Kinunoie's unique ingenuity.
The fabric that is created in this way is then cut into the finished umbrellas that become aurora.
Please enjoy this elegant and gentle parasol, with beautiful colors like the aurora floating above your head.
