As they are all made from natural wood, there are individual differences in color and pattern, so they are only available for sale in-store.

Ebony handle and ferrule
This is an ebony handle which is becoming increasingly popular in the shop.
When attached to a Tachibana folding umbrella it looks something like this.
When we think of ebony, we often think of the black keys of a piano or furniture, but when it comes to the handle of an umbrella, the wood grain color and pattern are all different, giving it a different kind of charm.
Ebony is sold as a set including not only the handle but also the ferrule.
The ferrule has silicone rubber on the inside, making it more resistant to water leakage.
If you purchase an umbrella from Komiya Shoten and change the handle to ebony, the price is 2,200 yen (tax included).
If you purchase just the ebony handle set alone, it will cost 3,300 yen.
Black persimmon handle and ferrule
The photo shows it attached to a striped folding umbrella.
Occasionally, persimmon trees will develop a distinctive black striped grain pattern known as kuro-kaki-me, and persimmon trees with this black pattern are called kuro-kaki.
It is said that it takes at least 100 years, and in some cases several hundred years, for a tree to reach this age, and due to its rarity it is also known as the "phantom precious wood" or "mysterious precious wood."
It is very rare for these to be in stock as umbrella handles, but this time the timing was right and we were able to prepare a limited quantity of about 10 pieces.
As the price is high, you can actually see the products at our Higashi-Nihonbashi store before making your selection.

Hand-carved by a craftsman
This handle was carved by a scoop craftsman in Hiroshima from wood such as magnolia, Japanese horse chestnut, and other trees in the Magnoliaceae family.
As each piece is unique, they have been carefully stored in Komiya Shoten's warehouse as reference material, but when we introduced several of them in our shop the other day, our customers were very pleased with them, so we have decided to sell them in limited quantities.
