My name is Ishiyama and I am in charge of repairing umbrellas at Komiya Shoten.
This is my first time writing a blog so I am a bit nervous but I hope you will enjoy it.
We will repair any umbrellas purchased from our company as long as we have the parts, so we often receive umbrellas for repair by delivery or by bringing them in, especially after a rainy day. 
There are various repairs available, such as repairing broken ribs, poles, and threads, but the most common is repairing umbrella ribs.
There are fewer repairs required for Japanese-made umbrellas, but if they are used on a windy day and are not able to properly deflect the wind, the ribs can break or bend.
The ribs are repaired by replacing only the damaged parts. 
Many customers who bring their swords to the shop say, "I thought I couldn't use it anymore because the bones were broken," but even if all the bones are broken, we can replace all the bones, so once it's repaired, it can be used as normal.
However, when repairing umbrellas made by other companies, the parts often do not fit together, so unfortunately we are unable to do so.

As I repair various umbrellas like this every day, I can see that so many customers take good care of the umbrellas they purchase from me.
That's why, after repairing an umbrella, I sometimes receive a thank you letter. 
Depending on the repair work, we may need to ask a craftsman to repair the umbrella, so when we receive postcards like this, we all look at them.
I am very happy, grateful and inspired.
