Gifting Karinto along with an umbrella: Nihonbashi Nishikihorin

Hello, this is Kato.
Although it is spring according to the calendar, the cold weather continues.
How are you all doing?

A series of recommended shops within walking distance from Komiya Shoten.
This time, we will introduce "Nihonbashi Nishikihorin," a karinto shop run by a long-established confectionery specialty store.

This is a popular shop located near Gin no Suzu in Gransta Tokyo's basement at Tokyo Station, so many people may already know about it, but in fact the main Kodenmacho store is located just a five-minute walk from Komiya Shoten.

Nihonbashi Kinpo-rin

Kodenmacho Main Store

At Nihonbashi Nishikihorin, where you can enjoy a wide variety of karinto, you'll find karinto in flavors that you don't usually get to eat, such as kinpira gobo (stir-fried burdock), vegetables, shichimi sansho (Japanese pepper with seven spices), and mitarashi (sweetened soy sauce). They all look so delicious that it's hard to choose.

Today I chose the Kinpira Gobo Karinto.
It's crunchy when you put it in your mouth, but it has the strange feeling of tasting like real "kinpira gobo" (stir-fried burdock), and it's a truly delicious snack that allows you to fully enjoy the sweetness of the karinto and the umami of the ingredients.

I also purchased some beautiful bite-sized rice crackers in the shape of Mt. Fuji called "Seven Views of Edo Fuji" and some "Choko Karinto".
This is perfect as a small gift, and "Choko Karinto" would also make a great Valentine's gift.

At the main store, there is an optional service where you can have your chosen sweets wrapped in a furoshiki of your choice of color, and I chose the "Seven Views of Edo Fuji" wrapping.
It's sure to be an even more wonderful gift.

The sweets were wrapped in furoshiki and presented in a Shosoin-tori bag (medium size) made from the same fabric as Komiya Shoten's Shosoin-tori umbrellas.
It's the perfect size for a small gift like this one.
